safariNepal’s first and most famous National Park is situated in the central development region covering an area of 932 km. This park includes hilly areas of the Silwalik range covered by deciduous Sal forest and carpeted with grass, savannah and riverine vegetation. The park is made up the flood plains of the Narayani, Rapti and the Reu River. The park is home to more than 450 endangered Asian one-horned rhinoceros and harbours one of the largest populations of the elusive and rare Royal Bengal Tiger. Besides rhino and tiger there are four species of deer; leopards, langurs, sloth bears, wild boars, four-horned antelope, samburs, rhesus monkeys, white stocking gaurs and many other smaller animals. Gharial and marsh mugger crocodiles cavort in the river water. The unique birds which number over 450 species including cormorants, egrets, stork, geese, jungle fowl, king fishers and endangered species such as parrots, Bengal florician, Lesser florician, Brahmin, duck, pintails, India pitta and parakeets. This makes the park a true bird watcher’s paradise.

JUNGLE SAFARI LODGE:
Jungle Safari Lodge is situated at the edge of the Rapti River. It is located 45 mn away from Tandi city and only 5mn away from the park and its headquarter. At the present time the lodge consists of comfortable cottages that are spread over a large area with well maintained lawns, walks ways and a garden full of flowers and plants. This lodge also has a separate dining room where delicious Nepalese and continental cuisine are served. All the room are well carpeted and have attached bathrooms.
